Christmas Box

My Stamp Club hostess for November requested that we make a Christmas box in which she could place a cute little gift for her child's teacher.  I jumped at the opportunity to use Stampin' Up!'s new kraft boxes, available in the Holiday mini catalog.
My best friend and I sat in my scrapbook room trying to come up with an idea of how to decorate the box.  I deferred to my tried and true color combination of old olive, cherry cobbler, and early espresso.  However, my friend encouraged me to think outside the box, walk on the wild side...  use lucky limeade!  I reluctantly agreed.  But as you can see, it was a great suggestion.  The lucky limeade paper gives the box a much brighter image, making it a little more cheery rather than the antique look provided by my favorite old olive.
One strip of paper would not fit all the way around the box, so I used two strips - a base of lucky limeade, topped with early espresso, which is then topped with cherry cobbler rectangles that have been dry embossed.

Lovely As a Tree

A friend of mine has a painting on the wall of her office.  Every time I would walk into her office, when she wasn't quite ready for me, I would sit in the chair that faced this painting, and just get lost in the peace it provided to me.  Since the very first moment I laid eyes on that painting, I became determined to recreate it, to the best of my ability, using my Stampin' Up! products.  This is my completed version of that painting.  I hope it brings you peace, as it does me.

God bless!

I'm Scrap Happy

As a stay-at-home mom, there are so many moments when I need to get away.  However, because I homeschool, most of the time literally "getting away" is not an option.  So how do I maintain my sanity?  I escape to my "happy place" ~ a 10x10 room in my house that is all mine.

I am so blessed to have this safe haven to run to when the rest of the house is constantly reminding me that my job description includes washing, drying, folding, cleaning, vacuuming, sweeping and mopping.  Sometimes I call it "my office", because that sounds much less self-serving than "my scrapbook room".

Although the moment you step through the door into my embellishing paradise, you know this room is all about me.  Living in a house with one man and two growing boys, this is the only room that contains flowers and glitter.  One wall is completely filled with my scrapbooking supplies - punches, glue dots, rhinestones, buttons, scissors, markers, ribbons...  I could go on and on, that's how spoiled I am.

Anyway, that's why I've created this blog.  So I can share my creations with you.  Please stay tuned for weekly postings of my latest cards, scrapbook pages, paper crafts and projects.  I hope you'll enjoy them as much as I do.
